Good to know, thanks. I was using port 8443, i.e., Jetty over SSL. Again, what's unusual about our situation is not overall document size but the number of nodes, and that may have something to do with what was causing large loads to fail because generating indexes on a large number of nodes could consume a lot of resources (just a guess). In any case, with the scripts I have now, I can load only the texts I want to, rather than replacing entire collections, and I can get a log of the load so if something turns up missing I can see what happened.
