As a paramedic, the emphasis on treatment for the acutly ill peds patient
is airway airway airway. This isn't surprizing since A comes before B
which comes before C - and without A - B stands for buy the flowers and C
for call the coroner. But how aggressive do you as emergency physicians
want or expect us to get. I am aware of what my medical director wants
ans expects. I am curious to hear what you as peds physicians feel is
within our realm and scope of care. Just to let you know how aggressive
we are in Richmond - we have standing orders for a surgical cric - in
extreme cases. This can be extended to peds - but only with a damn good
reason. Please be reasured - crics are not done very often at all here.
bye the way - here's my editorial on the editorials brought about the
aspiring capitalist in our midst - ignore it and it will go away.
Those of you who wasted my time by complaining are just as bad (Yes - I'm
the pot calling the kettle black!)
