I am a 'lurker' on this list, and I have read with interest your
sedation protocals. What do you have to suggest for the private
practitioner who has to:
1. suture a minor laceration
2. order sedation for an outpatient procedure (CT scan, MRI, EEG)
I have O2 sat monitor, EKG monitor, suction, ambu bag, and crash cart
in our large, multispecialty pratice, but I'm sure that most PMD's
don't have this. We don't use all this emergency equipment that
often, so I am leary about doing a procedure that might entail
actually using it.
To those who would reply that any sedation must be done in a
controlled hospital environment, that may be true in an ideal world,
but these procedures realistically are preformed in a private office
Thanks for your time...
