My hospital, Fitzgerald Mercy, uses SMS, god help it. It doesn't
interface with anything, as far as I can tell: it's a DEC-based,
goes-down-for-an-hour-or-two-several-times-a-day dinosaur that was
state-of-the-art in 1975. Our clerks do double entry ($%#!@#) of every
patient because the SMS system can't be made to download to the
dBase-based PC time- and diagnosis- tracking system we use.
Of course, maybe I'm just frustrated with our IS department's
implementation of it. If you find something that interfaces with it that
looks promising, let the list know.
