In Alberta, Canada, EMTs are licensed by a Health Disciplines Board of
the provincial government which includes all Allied Health Professionals -
physios, occupational therapists, nurses, etc. The standards are set by
a separate professional body for paramedics and EMTs in the province
which have been accepted as licensing standards for the province. So,
in answer to your question, the paramedics are combined with the
nurses and others but have their own body to identify those standards.
