Gary Wilkes replied why not. Actually, though the patient may need
some imaging study the question is whether or nota CT done in the
middle of the night (why do the first time seizures seem to cluster
here) is probably not the best test. In our institution we defer
studies till regular day hours. The patient either stays or return for
EEG( probably the best screening tool for seizures) and an MRI ( more
sensitive for most intracranial lesion especially small AVMs.
As for working nights after 50,
Well, I am only a few years away and still working them 7 in a row!.
Also know of several gray hairs that worked them well into their
sixties. Can't say we are immune to the psychological problems and
errors that may occur from sleep dysfunction but thus far, haven't been
made aware of anf aggregious errors.
