I work at the LE-PAROLE subproject in Finland. Our aim is to collect a
large corpus of finnish text and encode it using TEI P3.
I have encountered problems encoding newspaper texts. In the beginning
of each article there are usually two heads, a leading paragraph and name
of the author. So, I've tried to code it like this:
<head type=sub>Thousands of marsians dead already</head>
<head type=title>War in Mars</head>
Marsian x-party has declared
a war against ...
The question is: Is there a element to describe the "leading paragraph"
of a newspaper article? It is often in boldface or hilighted with some
other typographic device and it has the function of introducing the rest
of the text.
The problem with the construction above is that in the beginning of div
there cannot be a paragraph before byline.
All ideas are welcome! Thanks in advance.
