Gastric acid can facilitate absorptoion of heavy metals, such as lead.
We cared for a child who became Cobalt toxic from swallowed magnets
(Aluminum-Nickel-Cobalt) which remained in the stomach. If it remains in
the stomach I think lead toxicity is a possibility.
