This message is to announce Gambit-C 2.4.2, a prerelease of the Gambit-C
optimizing Scheme compiler. This is not an official release so please
do not redistribute it. I am making it available at this point because
the system has been extended to bring it closer to DSSSL and I would
like to get your feedback if you use it. The compiler now handles
DSSSL-style parameter lists (#!optional, #!rest, and #!key) and keyword
objects. Gambit-C also supports Unicode characters, strings and I/O
(using LATIN-1, UTF-8, UCS-2, or UCS-4 encodings).
Gambit-C is *NOT* an implementation of DSSSL. However, it provides
sufficient infrastructure to build an efficient DSSSL implementation on
top of Gambit-C.
