I am sorry you are going through this. It certainly is a rare occurence. I
have seen inadvertent axillary nerve injury with an IM injection in the
deltoid area. However the distribution of your parasthesias indeed suggests
a brachial plexus involvement.
Without sounding like I am insulting your knowledge of medicine, I would
sincerely suggest that you have yourself seen by your internist to
determine if you have any OBJECTIVE sensory- motor deficit in the
distribution of the radial, median, ulnar or axillary nerve. If you do, you
might want to see a neurologist before you self medicate with steroids.
If you only have parasthesias without any true deficit on testing I think
it would be somewhat reassuring and should be self limiting.
Let me know how you are doing. Hope it helps.
