You haven't quite missed it; it's still going on, as you probably

There's also Concede, http://nl.ijs.si/tomaz/Concede.html but we don't
have any public documents yet. In the next year I guess.

'Eventually' is my impression; there are some real problems in
converting to XML if you want to keep backward compatibility, which
the editors do. But for a somewhat more impatient approach see
