We all at Children's National Medical Center are interested in learning
about how other Children's ED's review x-rays on patients radiographed
in the course of ED evaluation.
Are these films reviewed by both a radiologist and ED physician
inititally? Are both physicians usually attending or senior-level
physicians? If not, at what times of day are films reviewed only by a
radiology resident initially, and are these films also reviewed by an ED
physician? At what times of day are films only reviewed by ED staff
initially? And how are differences between preliminary reads and
official reads followed up on? And how often do such discrepancies
We are evaluating our current system and interested in learning what
other hosptials are doing.
Feel free to reply to me directly or to the list-serv.
