Does anyone have any guidelines regarding the percentages of EM CPT codes
that is typical for a high acuity Peds ED ?
We have been using the HCFA guidelines as our "bench" but in reality they
are heavily skewed because is is determioned by older patients having
numerous complaints and whoose severity of their illness is generally
greater than the severity of most kids.
One thought was to try to target 99285 levels to the admission rate. But
even that is a loose association because some amissions require more work
than others. I suppose critical care codes should closely approximate the
number of ICU admissions and resuscitation.
SO if anyone has any thoughts or data on this subject please let me know..
