I strongly support using nursing triage protocols. I believe it does 2
things. One is expedite care. Secondly, I believe, it empowers our nursing
team to make decisions and most of them, in my experience, love it!!

I might start the ankle injury protocol by obtaining radiographs at triage
on all those with non weight bearing or obvious deformity.
On a related issue, what is the groups' thought on selective ankle
radiography based on the Ottawa rules, for the under 18 population? I
believe, the group from Children's in Pittsburg, a few years back,
demonstrated high sensitivity with this approach in children with an open
physis. Are folks using them??
