To the Members of the PEM Community:
With the beginning of the next academic year, I will be stepping
down as Division Chair of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and
Trauma Services at Children's National Medical Center (CNMC)
in Washington, DC. I am therefore pleased to announce that
CNMC will be searching for a new Chair. CNMC will be seeking
a physician-leader in PEM who can respond to the evolving
health care climate. The faculty appointment will be at either
the associate professor or professor level at the George
Washington University School of Medicine.
The responsibilities of the new Chair will include oversight of
the medical, nursing, and administrative functions of the
Division of Emergency Medicine and Trauma Services. The
successful candidate will ideally have strong clinical and
leadership experience and the ability to further the research of
our active Division. The individual should have demonstrated
administrative and managerial skills with an advanced degree
preferred (MBA, MMA, MHA, or MPH), but not required.
The Emergency Medicine and Trauma Center (EMTC) consists
of a central Emergency Department, an Urgent Care Center, a 23
Hour Observation Unit, a dedicated Pediatric and Neonatal
Transport Service, and a freestanding Emergency Medicine
Communications and Information Center (ECIC). CNMC is a
Level One pediatric trauma center.
Interested candidates are encouraged to send a letter of intent
with a Curriculum Vitae to James C. Gilbert, MD, Chair of the
