1. How many of your departments actually have pediatric rib spreaders
available for emergent thoracotomy? If yours does not, do you think they
should? Why or Why not.
2. In prior discussions we discussed the work up of potential SIDS cases. I
recently did a post mortem ammonia level (about 1.5 hours) and it returned
very high. Does anyone know or have literature addressing post mortem
ammonia levels? Do you think this child had a metabolic disease or a
worthless test drawn?
