We all know there is a higher incidence of appy following AGE - is there any

Not that i am aware of Jeane. The "strep" related abdominal pain scenario
that you described, is quite common. However, the mechanism of ABP in acute
pharyngitis is not well elucidated. Quite often, this pain is quite severe,
as in your case. I can recall admitting at least 2 of such kids with acute
strep tonsillitis, for severe ABP, that needed more time to resolve, with
BTW, my case had an operative diagnosis of "almost" ruptured appendicitis!!
