Recently with HCFA guidelines, more and more academic
centers have been creating a job for the non-pediatric
emergency fellowship trained physician (ie general
pediatrician) to help capture more billing.
This is a request for information regarding guidelines
for this type of job. What are the responsibilites of
such a physician? How are the hours allocated - what
percentage of time in the main ED and/or in urgent
care? What times of day are the shifts, and what are
the frequency of overnights and weekends? How many
clinical hours? What is the range in compensation? CME
money and time? Other issues, etc.? Relationship
between these physicians and fellows & board certified
pediatric ER attendings?
