Different use of phoneme from what I'm used to, but sure.  I can see your
point

I've never heard it reported by anybody else, and I've only done that kind of
work with one person, so I really don't know.  I haven't noticed it in any
other speakers, but I usually don't pay that close attention: I'm too busy
trying to figure out what the words mean to worry about subtle pronunciation
differences.
