New faculty positions are open in the Division of Pediatric Emergency
Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine, Rochester, New
York.

The Children's Hospital at Strong Memorial Hospital is a tertiary care
hospital serving Central and Western New York State. The PED at Strong
provides care to 22 - 25 thousand ill and injured children annually, and is
a regional trauma center as well as being home to the Finger Lakes Regional
Poison Control Center. This is a stimulating academic, teaching, and
clinical environment, with a broad range of faculty interests from basic
science to community-based health care and public health.

We are seeking candidates for academically-oriented faculty who are
Fellowship trained and Board Certified or Eligible in PEM. Special
consideration will be given to candidates with an interest in assuming the
position of Director of the Fellowship program, a thriving training program
with partial independent funding.

The PED at Strong is the recipient of a five year one million dollar
development grant from the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities. This award
has enabled us to partially fund the fellowship program, as well as to
create a full-time child life worker position, adn to institute an
aggressive PEM Nursing Education program. Perhaps most importantly, the
grant supplies some discretionary funding for faculty, fellow, resident, and
nurse-initiated research projects. This funding allows our staff to develop
pilot projects and acquire preliminary data prior to generating major
research grants. The PED is now located in brand-new, $22 million facility
with state of the art equipment and a massive trauma room with dedicated
digital radiology facilities.

We offer very attractive compensation packages in a beautiful environment
with four-season outdoor activities and a nationally recognized school
system. Please send letters of interest and a CV to Julius Goepp, MD, at
