I've noticed that many langs created for parallel timelines tend to take
a base language (often Latin) and apply phonetic changes to them. Often
the phonetic changes tend to simulate other (nat)languages from the same
geographical area. My question is, how realistic is this? That is,
does modern or even early French bear a resemblance to some ancient
gaulish tongue in the same way that Brithenig(sp?), for example,
resembles welsh? This seems doubtful to me, but I don't know. Any
takers?
