Depressingly so.  It often seems that the division is so deep and
pervasive that there is no hope of a workable community.

If anyone goes back and forth, they are not the highly vocal,
mudslinging, dug-in camps that are most visible in the field.

It's very discouraging.  I'd like to know that it was worth learning.
