I find this fascinating.  There is a PIE root *reughmen (AHD) listed 
as meaning "cream."  The only current English descendant 
is "ramekin."  I feel certain that the German "Rahm" is also a 
descendant.

What form might a Latin word derived from *reughmen have taken?
