Caring for Youth Concussion Syndrome:
On the field, in the emergency department, and beyond...

This program was created for coaches, athletic trainers, and recreation directors, as well as school nurses,
EMS personnel and health care providers, to heighten awareness of the importance of proper assessment,
monitoring and management of concussions. It will provide an opportunity for participants to network
with a multi-disciplinary group of individuals who have a direct impact on our youth athletes, with the
intent of reaching a common understanding of concussion.
 
By the end of the Seminar, attendees will be able to:
• Discuss methods that can prevent sports related concussion
• Review coaches/athletic trainers responsibility for assessing sports related concussion
• Explain the role of the EMS provider in the management of the player at the scene
• Review the appropriate emergency department management of the patient with a sports related
concussion
• Identify strategies to assist parents, educators, coaches and school nurses in developing a plan for
“return to play”
 
Conference Fee $40.00 (Includes dinner) Registration deadline: 2/23/07
 
Contact hours will be available for nurses, school nurses and EMTs. No charge for eligible members of volunteer first aid squads.
 
A completed EMT Training Fund Certificate of Eligibility form must be submitted with registration.
