I sort of tried to runify Brahmi -- only vertical and slanted
lines suitable for cutting against the fibers of a stick, for the
native Euia Twas script. There actually is a script, Lontara,
which probably originated that way.

An early version of Bukhstav runes was featurally coded and organized in syllable blocks like Hangul, and runes within a syllable block were joined together by the staves like Devangari. I didn't like the end result, however, and decided to go for a more purely runiv style.
