PEM at Stanford University:

Stanford University Health Care and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital is seeking board certified / board eligible pediatric emergency medicine physicians for clinical positions at the rank of assistant professor or above.

The Department of Emergency Medicine is expanding our program in preparation for a transition to a new state of the art Pediatric Emergency Department scheduled to open in early 2018 as part of a construction of a new 600 bed, 824,000 square foot hospital. At the same time, the Children’s Hospital is planning to open an additional 150 beds (to a total of 461) in 2017 in a new 521,000 square foot construction.

The new Pediatric ED will offer 15 rooms including a pediatric trauma resuscitation bay and critical care and isolation beds. While part of the Stanford Emergency Department, it will be staffed 24/7 by a team of PEM attendings and PEM nurses. It will feature a separate pediatric registration, waiting area and distinctive child friendly design.

The pediatric Emergency Department has seen a significant growth of 80% in the last 10 years. We are a Pediatric Level I trauma center, a Pediatric EMS base station with Child Life Specialists, a Pediatric ED Call Back Nurse Program and an Emergency Medicine Pharmacist. Around the clock coverage by Pediatrics and Emergency Medicine residents along with access to every pediatric specialist offer tremendous opportunities to learn and teach. We have been approved by the Stanford University GME office to start a Pediatric EM Fellowship program and anticipate to interview the first candidates for a July 2016 start date.

To complement our active academic team we are looking for an additional physician to contribute to the many activities we offer including: CME courses in APLS, PALS and an advanced simulation program, We have support of a dedicated research director, research staff, and our ED is home to a diverse group of fellowship programs including Ultrasound, International Medicine, EMS, Wilderness and Academic Development.

Become an integral component of our growing academic PEM program and enjoy the benefits of building your career in one of the most livable regions of the nation with lifestyle and weather that can’t be beat!
