avoid using numbers any more than necessary, and would urge the tribe to
consider that such may be the effect on others as well. Bear may create a
base-10 loan system if the translation becomes too onerous. Bear has a
similar feeling about a calendar but a calendrical calculator could be
useful in translating.

I agree that for this sort of group project (including, as it does,
non-mathematician/programmers), base 10 is probably best, though I did have
the idea of specifying which base is being used (e.g. have numbers be
"base-digit-digit-digit"), though this could easily make things even more
confusing.
