Pershad et al, just published a cost effectiveness study comparing CT, fast MRI, and point of care us assessment of optic nerve diameter(OND).
every subject was subjected to a skull series.

is everyone still doing these plain films?
seems to me if the POCUS OND is a reliable screen, why do a shunt series if the OND is normal.

if abnormal, then fsMRI  and shunt series.
wouldn't that be efen more cost effective and less risky?
