April 1996 Arch Ped Adolesc Med (150:349) contains a study entitled
"Outpatient treatment of croup with nebulized dexamethasone".  Results
showed significant improvement in dex treated patients @ 4 hours, yet
hospitalization rate was not different.  Two of their patients with
neutropenia developed bacterial tracheitis.  Concluded that due to
infectious complications and lack of sustained clinical effect, not
recommended.
