Virginia Commonwealth University-Medical College of Virginia Department
of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics and Emergency Care is
seeking a ful-time Research Specialist Senior to be Project Coordinator
of the Virginia EMSC Project.  This Coordinator will coordinate meetings
of the EMSC Project Subcomittee, manage completion of, and updates to,
the Virginia EMSC Needs Assessment document insofar as the requested
data is available.  He/she will assist the EMSC subcommittee in
accessing sufficient information and resources to come to consensus
concerning priorities, goals and objectives for the EMSC implementation
proposal.  The individual will write grant application and prepare the
budget, as well as completing annual grant continuation paperwork and
quarterly report.  He/she will preform on-line purchases and monitor
grant expenditures.  The individual will play an active leadership role
in EMSC project outreach; meet with appropriate state and local
representatives of (1)health care organizations and (2) community based
or voluntary organizations to identify supportive linkages and to form
new partnerships.  He/she will develop productive roles for parties
interested in participating in the project.
 
Qualifications:  Masters Degree preferred with outstanding communication
and letter-writing skills as well as public speaking experience.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, Windows 95 and Power Point. Knowledge of State
and federal government structure, public health, state and federal child
health resources, grant applications processes and preparation,
coalition building, EMS continuum of care, pediatric injury prevention
issues, legislative processes, and budgetary processes. Some travel is
required (rare overnight and out-of-state travel).  If interested,
