This scenario makes me very uncomfortable. I would say bite the bullet -
if you believe that is viral meningitis then he can home without
antibiotics.  But if you believe the risk for bacterial meningitis is
high enough to warrant ceftriaxone - then I would argueits high enough
to justify the admission.
