Children's Hospital / Harvard Medical School

The Division of Emergency Medicine at Children's Hospital in Boston is
recruiting two faculty. These positions are primarily suited for
physicians pursuing a clinical career with a desire to join a large,
professionally diverse group of pediatric emergency physicians
practicing at the cutting edge of the subspecialty.

The first position is based 90% in the pediatric emergency department of
a general hospital in the Boston suburbs, serving approximately 15,000
children annually. Coverage includes evenings and weekends but no
overnights. The remaining 10% of the shifts are at Children's Hospital.

The second position is based at Children's Hospital and exclusively
involves coverage of night shifts. The number of shifts per week is
negotiable. All the clinical experience as well as academic activities
will occur at Children's Hospital.

For both positions, the faculty appointment will be at Harvard Medical
School. Faculty in these positions will be expected to participate in
the educational programs of the division and will have the opportunity
to engage in research independently or with a mentor.

Currently, members of the Division staff the pediatric emergency
departments at Children's Hospital, MetroWest Medical Center, South
Shore Hospital and Winchester Hospital. In addition, the faculty attend
on the Short Stay Unit at Children's Hospital. There are 27 senior
faculty, 5 junior faculty, and 14 fellows. Areas of research
concentration include the diagnosis and treatment of infectious
diseases, the pathophysiology of septic shock, toxicology, trauma,
medical informatics, vaccine development, and the genetic basis of the
immune response to acute infections.
